A wrap needs an appropriate, stable substrate. Loose paint, failing clear coat and corrosion deserve attention before installation. Do not treat film as a way to hold a failing finish together. If a repair is recommended, coordinate its suitability and timing with the repairer and installer.

Expect texture to remain relevant

Film conforms to the surface rather than leveling it like a body repair. Dents, chips and uneven touch-up can affect the final look. Ask what will remain visible and whether your chosen finish may make it more noticeable. A physical sample cannot reproduce every defect on the vehicle.

Disclose coatings and paint history

Previous coatings, waxes, polishing and repainting can influence preparation and removal risk. Share records when available and acknowledge unknowns. Avoid performing unapproved preparation immediately before the appointment; adding a new product may create extra work instead of helping the installer.
