Paint Correction or Detailing?
Detailing cleans and refreshes the vehicle; paint correction refines defects in the painted finish through controlled polishing. Neither term should be used as a promise to repair all damage. Start by identifying whether the problem is contamination on the surface, defects in the finish or a repair issue.

Clean enough to see the real condition
Road film and bonded contamination can hide gloss and exaggerate a tired appearance. Appropriate cleaning may reveal that the paint needs less work than expected. Ask whether the initial assessment should begin with a detail or decontamination before choosing a correction level. A dirty photograph cannot settle that question.
Reserve correction for the right goal
Swirls, haze and some light defects may improve through polishing, depending on their depth and the finish. Correction removes material, so the aim should be an agreed improvement with paint preservation in mind. It should not automatically be added to every detail or used to chase defects that are too deep.
Recognize when repair is a different service
Missing paint, dents, corrosion and failing clear coat require a separate conversation. A detail can clean around a problem; a coating or polish cannot rebuild a damaged paint system. If repair is the right next step, coordinate it before investing in protection that may later need removal.
